Perseverance has paid a big part in the success of Thai machine maker JAIMAC POWER Co., Ltd. The business had operated in the industrial field for many years before it saw an opportunity to manufacture a Thai-made CNC cutting machine about 8 years ago.
Until then this type of sheet metal machine was almost 100% imported, but Mr. Pongsak Jitramluk, President of Jaimac, believed there was an opportunity for a Thai product to be successful. However it didn’t happen overnight.
In order to manufacture the new machine the company had to invest about 40 million Baht and they still needed to import several essential parts. Company executives and technicians spent a lot of time on R&D. They travelled extensively, visiting international exhibitions and talking with engineers to learn how to produce the machine in Thailand.
When it was finally made it was indeed much cheaper than foreign competitors. Another advantage was because it was made in Thailand sales and service were immediate – a big plus for clients who could not interrupt production. In fact Jaimac engineers now stand by for 48 hours on a customer’s site to assist with repairs and make sure no production time is lost.
However Jaimac found that when they first approached customers in Thailand most were reluctant to accept the machine. Only after it won favor with foreign users and word began to spread about its value and efficiency did the company start to win customers. JAIMAC’s CNC machine is now highly regarded and sought after. Perseverance has paid off and the company has never looked back.
